“I came across Dr Ankita Shah’s work when I was researching on airway dentistry. Turns out she is the only doctor in India that does practices this. I have been suffering from myriad of health problems like allergic rhinitis, depression, anxiety, migraine, frequent ear infections, trj disorders to the point that they were severely interfering with my ability to go on with my day to day life. Little did I know that they were all interconnected. My first consultation with Dr lasted about 2 hours. She made me fill a detailed questionnaire and we had an in depth discussion about all the problems I was facing. She then patiently explained how most of my problems could be solved. I did not expect a dentist to send me for physiotherapy but she did! She looked at all my problems holistically. She recommended that I start weight training and also put me in touch with a physiotherapist that works specially with TMJ patients.
She wanted to first correct my posture because it turns out it directly impacts your airway significantly!
After a few months of physio and oral myofacial therapy where she should me how to manage my congestion (Which did wonders btw. Anyone with allergic rhinitis should try this if antihistamines aren’t working for you ) she gave me a splint to wear which really helped with my balance. I was then given a custom made orthotic (Which is transparent) to wear full time to correct my jaw positioning. I am glad to say that I have been sleeping so much better, my congestion has gone down significantly and due to this I am not tired during the day so my mood has been better. I rarely get migraines or ear infections any more and I have stopped grinding my teeth and all this without taking a single tablet! Ofc eating healthy and working out plays a huge role but she is the first doctor who actually educated me on how much of a difference my lifestyle would make on my condition. Dr Ankita is very patient and never dismisses any of your concerns. Her treatments, although popular in the west are not yet mainstream in India, which is a shame because so many of us are stuck in endless loops of doctors, medicines, surgeries which may only provide symptomatic relief for a while whereas she won’t just slap a band aid on your wound, she will really teach you a healthy, sustainable way to cure your problems. “
